Q: Where did the name 2 Chicks with Chocolate come from?
A: Lots of wine! After a several hours and too much vino, and intoxicating debates of not having a corny name for such a cool biz, the realization was that we were 2 Chicks and we were selling Chocolate - poof! 2 Chicks with Chocolate was born around 3am in March 2003! Alas! My marketing degree was paying off! Now if I could have just done that without the hangover - damn sulfites!
Q: What's the "old" 2 Chicks that's often talked about?
A: In 2003 (at Bridgewater Commons Mall) we started selling chocolate gift baskets and favors along with a slew of other silly chocolate dipped things like chocolate dipped Ritz crackers that we called "Puttin' on the Ritz" and "Crunchy Bears" that were milk chocolate and Captain Crunch cereal mixed together and molded into bear shapes. And it worked but I realized my strength is in the business development not true chocolate knowledge - hence where Mr. Master Chocolatier comes in.
Q: I'm an old 2 Chicks fan and I remember a different look. I believe there were 2 chickens in chef hats, etc. What happened to those chicks?!
A: Wow - great question.... and now you're going to get to an earful of a great response along with a nice lesson in branding. Ready? Ok!
So after 2 Chicks was named at 3am - I knew I wanted a logo asap because I already had the vision in my head. It was 2 cool chickens with pots and spoons with chef hats on and poof we had it drawn up. And we used those cute chicks until late last year. We knew that if we were going to change our image, the logo needed an overhaul along with an entire brand strategy. The 2 chickens weren't gonna cut it for the market we're now going after so we sexed it up and made it fun and hip. Exactly where the new brand is headed. Fresh, hip and sexy-cool chocolate with a splash of fun!
Q: What's the Chick-in-Charge really all about? A: Whoa.... how much time do you have? She's a Libra - so a lot! She loves her life, her mom, her company and team, her friends and family, really helping people see bigger than life, and throwing fabulous parties. Most of all, she's still madly in love with her high-school sweetheart that she married in 2006. Oh! And dirty martini's shaken with extra olives and great red wine - but MOST important, a daily 64% dark Venezuelan chocolate tile topped with cocoa nibs.
